Samshui.

P.M. 11th November, 1927.

Sir,

The following additional information to my report of this

morning has been obtained, and is considered reliable.

The pirate band is the same as the Tai Ping Hu band and

is at least 300 strong. From 70 - 100 were implicated in attack

on tow on 10th November though only 20 - 30 could be seen from

"Robin" and were actually firing. Remainder were hidden on Sun

Sha Island and remained hidden there for two or three hours

arter firing ceased, as their boats had deserted them.Casualties

inflicted by "Robin's" fire two killed and 6 wounded.

Pirates burnt the town of Wang Aong three miles due South

of Sainam on night of 9th November only two Pawn shops romain

standing. The glare from this was observed from "Robin".

It is confirmed that tow owner had refused to pay $1000

"squeeze" for his two tows.

No attack on Samshul or Hok Hau is expected, but it is

just possible that one might be made on Sainam.

Sun Sha village is not piratical but villages on South

shore most probably are so.

Commissioner of Customs stated this morning that he had

heurd a rumour that an attack had been premeditated on Samshui

with the object of looting the Asiatic Petroleum Company and

Customs and town generally but did not attach much importance

to it. This was said to have been going to take place on night

of 10th November and the attack on the tow wus the first move.

The Commodore,

Hongkong.

He/

The Senior Raval officer,

West diver.
